VET SERVICES FOR CATS

Cat and Kitten Adoption, Behaviour advice and Veterinary Medicine specially for felines. Cat food advice and nutritional counselling, Kittens to Geriatric cats catered for. Complementary therapies acupuncture and Reiki, as well as alternative therapies for cats such as homeopathic remedies and Omega based immune supplements.

We are actively involved in the Cat Adoption Centre, which originated here in 1994. We currently home out 170 kittens a year, amounting to over 2,500 in that time, so we are probably the most experienced vets with a natural affinity for 'kittenhood' problems and early behavioural problems

Our Services: Because we specialize in feline medicine, all our technology is appropriate to cats.

  • Measuring blood pressure (related to feline kidney problems.)
  • On site Diagnostic X-Rays and Ultrasound, Acupuncture and Dental Surgery.
  • Boarding facilities - we have'Supercat Cages' which are 3 levels meaning cats cannot see each other
  • While your cat is boarding or in hospital with us he/she will be groomed daily.

The Cat Clinic has evolved as a truly distinctive organic entity. Dr Kim Kendall and all the staff at the Cat Clinic, are driven by the desire to make a better world for cats in general.

Dr Kim's veterinary approach is to keep going with the problem till we have enough of an answer to satisfy the owner. "The thing I like best about cat owners is that they make me work pretty hard, and ask questions, to which, of course, they are entitled to have answers. Hence all my consultations are booked as Extended (i.e. 20 to 30 minutes) as my client's time is valuable and a lot of it is spent getting here, so I want as much information as I can get to minimise visit frequency. I do actually believe it takes more than five to ten minutes to get to the bottom of many cat problems, or to outline preventative measures even for routine ones. And that time can be

made up of either one intense visit or several short ones. If you think about how much cats hate to travel, you can see the sense of it." says Dr Kim.

"There is me and a part time vet at the moment, to do the medical and surgical work, plus we sometimes answer phones and front desk enquiries. Then there are three lay staff who are the backbone of the day to day events and they also have a real knack for grooming, so all the cats go home looking gorgeous. And flea free of course.

The veterinary services are as you'd expect - Vaccination with full health check (every time), desexing (including "microspeys' as young as six weeks though 10 weeks is preferred), worming, flea control discussions. Tthese can get very involved as we have to customise the flea control to the owners and cats needs. There are full medical and surgical facilities with diagnostic x-rays and ultrasound on-site, basic endoscopy, acupuncture etc. We have facilities for difficult cats and have been able to handle all comers so far (though the adrenaline still pumps when a 'wild one' shrieks disapproval).

Dr Kim is associated with the Cat Protection Society (she was the one to start their 'microspeys') and has written for their Cat Affairs magazine. We mainly interact with them by homing out about 170 kittens (and some adults) each year. This started as a altruistic activity to help store up some good cat karma and has evolved into a core activity which we all enjoy, vets, lay staff and clients as well.
