Shedding the extra cat fur means knots and tangles for some of our feline friends. Your cat's little tongue has to do a lot of work to keep all that fur manageable! A warm, massaging wash at the Kitty Day Spa may be just what she needs! From Himalayan and Persian Princesses, Royal Ragdolls and Birmans, Maine Coons and Norwegian Forest Cats through to longhaired moggies, unkempt kitties and even some Rexes, our crew can help keep feline skin clean and itch-free, eliminate the flea burden and send your cat home the complete Glamour Puss!
Cats come from Willoughby, Roseville and the northern beaches, as well as Mosman, Manly and the Hills District for the first and finest feline dedicated grooming service in Sydney. Your cat will enjoy the experienced, elegant and excellent service offered by our staff in their efforts to clean up your feline friend's coat and skin to improve their comfort. The eyes may be the window of the soul, but the coat reflects your cat's inner health and beauty!
Under the watchful veterinary eye of Dr Kim Kendall Cat Vet, our staff can make your tangled and matted feline friend into plush and happy fur-free feline!
That big coat gets too much for many of the pure-breds, and with all the pollen, dust and diesel fumes, it is no wonder their coats get sticky and tangle!
Our current team - Fiona and Lauren - can clip, comb and de-tangle even the most matted coat out, and by using the Anivac Pure Oxygen Wash and Massage equipment - they can get those coats shiny and deep-seated clean. It works extremely well for cats with eczema, itches and just plain dull coats. HIGHLY recommended, it cleans at least 30% more out of your cat’s coat than even professional grooming can! And the cats love it.
If your feline companion has long hair that knots, or just gets too fluffy to manage, then we can comb out the excess, and clip a matted coat down to a manageable length (called a 'Lion Clip' if only the head, tail and feet are left furry, or a 'Defluff, Belly and Bottom Clip' if only those areas are cut back or a Lamb Clip if a short coat is left on the body). Followed by a good warm wash, Anivac Massage and a fluffy blow drying, your cat's skin will just glow.
Lately we are finding even short haired cats can benefit from a wash as well - big city dirt gets a bit hard to wash off sometimes. And if your cat has been pounced on by fleas, then they need a helping hand to get rid of all those fleas, their eggs and that nasty fleadirt! At Cat Vet, we can eliminate the fleas, get your puss purring with pleasure again, and give you the best flea advice around! All in one place!
Older cats also get arthritis and can't bend around to groom themselves any more, so they get tufts of hair along their sides and back. Pain relief and clipping or combing out the hair followed by a cleansing wash perks these old felines up no end. If your cat gets really cross about being clipped, then Dr Kim Kendall is available to take the sting out of the claws. This usually involves a safe sedative (sometimes only a pain relief injection), particularly if the knots are tight. It is recommended so your cat is not in in fear or pain while the knots and hair are combed and clipped, and also to prevent accidental nicks and clipper cuts when a cat becomes unco-operative!.
Then we wash and blow dry your cat so she is looking her best! Lots of cats need their nails clipped - we can do them - and show you how! Save your skin, your furniture and your cat from getting caught in the carpet!
After all, Cleanliness is Next to Catliness - but your feline friend only has a little tongue, and there is lots of nasty stuff in the air these days to make that coat sticky. Once the Knots Start, it is a rapidly downhill process to an Unkempt Coat and Painful Knots. Add in that so many cats have arthritis (up to 30% of 3 year olds and 90% of 10 year olds!) and cannot reach all parts of their coat any more, and you will see how easy it is for a coat to get out of hand. Plus with the hot and humid weather in Sydney these days, even some short-haired cats are MUCH happier with a 'Tick Clip' - a really short shave to allow for Tick Searches, but also just makes some cats more comfortable. AND no hair to shed around the house for a few months! Now THAT'S a bonus!
