INTERNATIONAL CATS BIRTHDAY - March 1st

The time has rolled around again to celebrate the Divinity of the Cat. The

worship of Bast has been dated to at least the Second Dynasty (that is, around 2890-2686 BCE) - that’s before the building of the pyramids. Bast / Bastet was the Egyptian Goddess of Fertility, and from her eyes shone the moon. Modern celebrations vary wildly in their beliefs and rituals, as you might expect from such an ancient source. Cats, having once been worshipped as gods, have never forgotten nor changed their view. They are the centre of their own universe. And we acknowledge and celebrate their uniqueness with them on 1 March each year!
